Sample Music Above

Finding Home was inspired by Rena's 1-woman Off-Broadway musical 'Spaghetti & Matzo Balls!' which enjoyed three sold-out runs in NYC. The musical explores Rena's journey from her upbringing as a nice Jewish girl in upstate NY to singing karaoke for the mob, traveling the country with Les Miserables, torturing her 89 year old matchmaking grandmother because she's still not married, dodging bullets and all the while rediscovering her roots.

The music ranges from folk, rock, opera, Jewish & Italian to songs from Sesame Street. You'll hear some of the most accomplished musicians in NYC including Voxare, the Julliard string quartet , world renown fiddler Lev "Ljova" Zhurbin, clarinetist Michael Winograd, Flutist Matt Steckler and many more! You can download track 12 here.

‘Strober's use of sincere storytelling and mellifluous vocals will make you laugh, sing along, and at times, Strober even breaks your heart.’
- The Knight News (Read full review)

‘Blessed with a clear and powerful voice that needs no amplification...Strober sings opera, pop, jazz, showtunes and folksongs in Yiddish, Hebrew and Italian with equal skill, weaving the songs into the narrative gracefully—and, best of all, to good dramatic effect.’
- BroadwayWorld.com (Read full review)

‘warm, honest, funny and engaging.’
- New York Magazine

‘...Rena's got a talent that's part Sarah Brightman, part Madeline Kahn, and the rest wonderfully all her own. If you're looking for entertainment with lots of laughs, and the occasional tearjerker from one of today's bright young talents, I'd recommend putting this one on your 'to see' list.’

Spaghetti and Matzo Balls

How did a nice Jewish Girl from upstate find herself singing at the infamous Italian restaurant Rao's, hosting the Ms.Italian American Pageant, being part of a Mob reality show on HBO and being the focus of a now famous shooting? Rena Strober takes you on an unbelievable journey where she has to choose between things like being set up by her Jewish Grandmother or being picked up in a limo to sing for Bill Clinton. With music from Italian Pop Opera, Yiddish & Jewish tunes, folk, rock & roll, Broadway and many original pieces, this musical experience will teach you what it means to find your way home again.

FROM THE DESK OF ARTISTIC DIRECTOR GORDON EDELSTEIN "Until I saw Charlie Newell's production of this musical last year in Chicago, it was a show that I thought I never needed to see again, but under Charlie's incisive and invigorating baton, it seemed like a brand new show.
